Kamoebas and Kale Chips

I was starving after work today, and was so excited because I knew I had crispy BBQ kale chips waiting for me in the D.

For some reason I didn't think they were as good as the last time I made them, but that didn't stop me from scarfing down three bowls. Whenever I eat kale chips I have an inner conversation with myself that goes something like this:

"Okay, this is the last one."
"I mean it, no more after this guy."
"Hey- how did that get in my mouth?!"
"Oooh, look at all the seasoning on this chip!  I wonder how it tastes."
"Mmmm. Crispy."
"Better see if this one's as good."
"Nope- kind of gross.  I need one more to leave a good taste in my mouth."
"Seriously!  This is the last one."

I washed down my head of crisped kale with a Kombucha.  The kamoeba (I think the real name is scoby?) was impressively large in this bottle.  I hate it when you bravely attempt to drink a kamoeaba in one gulp and it tries to escape your mouth, suctioning itself all over your chin in the process.

My other eats today looked something like this:

(smoothie, curry pate on cukes, Raw Food Real World's buckwheat cereal w/ raisins and hemp milk)

Next up:  a huge dinner salad and, or course, a piece of banana cream pie.

Question:  Do you eat or drink anything that others find revolting?

  1. YES lol, I make a spinach apple sauce. Put as many greens into a blender with just enough apple to mask the taste, add cinnamon and raisins, bam..health snack in a minute. People puke at the sight of it. haha

  2. Omg, Amy, that's GENIUS! I need to try this (even though I'm kind of scared).

  3. Your food looks delectable. And you are one funny lady! Your description of the inner dialogue over the kale chips is something I'm sure so many of us can nod to in rueful recognition!

Kamoeba-lol! Do you have a scoby of your own? I have way too many and would be glad to send you one if you don't and would like one. Drop me an email elamonster1 (at) gmail if you'd like it.

Yes, I eat lots of green sludges and puddings and things that gross people out, not as bad as I used to be though...

Hi Ela! You make your own kombucha? You can mail scobies? I will e-mai, even though I'm a little intimidated by making my own.

I made up the pate in an effort to be more creative, but it wasn't that awesome. TH said, "It's okay, but I don't understand what it is supposed to be."

Did you get your kale chips? :) Have fun with your mom (mum)!

  7. Great looking food! I am so hooked on raw kale that I still have to try making another batch of dehydrated kale chips. I made only one batch, sevaral months ago.
    Peace & Raw Health,

I wish I loved raw kale more. My normal kale consumption involves disguising it in smoothies or with raw dressing.
